If you live near water and own a boat, then you already know how much fun it can be in the summer. However, boats do not get ready on their own. There are some vital steps that you need to take before you take the boat out this summer. Use our list to get started so you can have the best summer on your boat.
- Check the battery. Over the winter, your battery can lose a lot of juice, if not all of it. Be sure to check your current battery to make sure you do not need a new one. Also, if you leave the boat and do not use it for a few weeks this summer, then you may want to check it before you take it out.
- De-winterize your boat. If you were smart and did everything you could to prep your boat for winter, then you likely winterized your boat. The next obvious step is to de-winterize it so you can use it all summer long.
- Get a tune-up on your boat. You should get a tune up every year and if you do it before summer each year, then you will never forget and it will be ready to go or you all summer long.
- Check your life jackets and fire extinguishers. Hopefully you never need to use these but in the case that you do, you want to make sure you have enough and that they work. Check all of these before going out on the water.
